Kate’s Wedding Dress: Combines British with an international appeal

The royal wedding unveil its last screen at the moment we got the first through-the-car-window look at Kate’s slim lace sleeve, 1950s neckline, veil edged with scalloped chantilly and – to whoops of joy on the fashion desk – a glimpse of Sarah Burton herself helping the train into the car.

None ever doubted that Kate would go British, but her decision to work with the relatively unknown designer Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen was a stroke of genius. There was, quite simply, no one better talented or more qualified for the job. Its delicate lace sleeves, stunning satin bodice and cleverly pleated skirt combine traditional fabrics with a contemporary silhouette, clearly inspired by the gown Hollywood beauty Grace Kelly wore when she married Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956.

The dress symbolized what worked about this wedding. It was grand but romantic, traditional but unexpected. It dispatched all memories of Diana’s schlocky, overblown dress by zeroing in on a far more elegant, sophisticated version of the princess ideal in Grace Kelly. It combined notes of British with an international appeal.

The primary reference is Kelly’s marriage, but the shape also recalls the dress worn by Princess Margaret at her wedding four years later; the lace sleeves nod to the dresses of the Italian Catholic tradition, but the design of the lace itself – handmade at Hampton Court – features roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrock.

Crucially, the choice of Sarah Burton and the Alexander McQueen label is a hugely encouraging sign that Kate has a modern understanding of what it is that makes Britain great in the 21st century. Encouraging because – whether you like it or not – Kate and William will play as key a part of the image of Britain abroad in the next decade as the Harry Potter franchise has in the last.

Skin Care Tips during Summer

The summer of warmth comes after the cold and chilly winter. This time people go out of their houses to enjoy the warmth of the sun and welcome the outdoor activities. With the sun at its best and the temperature soaring up, people spend most of their time in sunbathe and rejoicing the true beauty of the nature. But with the glowing tan comes the threat of skin damage. Too much exposure to sun can cause skin cancer and other harmful skin diseases. So, it is necessary for you to take precautions when you are taking sunbathe and enjoying outdoor summer activities.

So we detail here top 10 skin care tips during summer:

1.         Watermelon juice: This juice tightens and cools the skin. Apply this juice on the face and the neck for about 15 minutes. Then wash it off with cold water. it will give you ultimate cooling.

2.         Cucumber juice: The juice of cucumber should be applied on the face and the eyes during the summer season. it has a great hydrating and cooling effect.

3.         Aloe Vera: Extract the fresh juice from a fresh leaf of aloe Vera. Mix this gel with lavender oil and apply to the body parts which are exposed to sun rays. This prevents sun burn.

4.         Rose water: it is a natural hydration booster. During summers, the skin becomes hydrated, hence it needs extra hydration. So before stepping out into the sun, spray some cool rose water on the body.

5.         Potato juice: The juice of potato can be applied on the skin to lighten skin color after an unwanted tan.

6.         Lacto calamine: keep lacto calamine with you as it comes very handy in case of sun burn.

7.         Beneficial liquids: Drink lots of water, fresh lime water mixed with salt, coconut water etc to keep you hydrated. Always keep a water bottle with you wherever you go.

8.         Sunscreen: Apply a good sunscreen with a high SPF before heading to the beach.

9.         Hats and sunglasses: Floppy hats are helpful to cover the face from harsh sunrays. Sunglasses are also a must in the summers.

10.       Cotton clothes: Wear loose and comfortable cotton clothes during the summers.

Some bold young fashioners are using mixed prints. But now a day’s woman even over 40 is using it as their trend, though most of the women don’t even find it as a good trend. As information from women, few things does not go very well with  mixed prints for them.

But even slowly, it’s coming to the mainstream of the fashion and we have to wait for the future to have the final say about it.

Global fashion focus at the moment: Kate’s wedding dress

Kate’s wedding gown would be the foremost focus as she makes the long walk down the aisle at Westminster Abbey, as a symbol of her personality, her style and crucially, what kind of queen she would be in the near future.  Does the picture below indicates that kate is well aware about the dress and taking care to william’s dress too!!!

Palace officials have refused to divulge details of the dress to ensure the maximum impact when Kate steps out of the car — but also ensuring that expectations are impossibly high. Media is can not be reluctant of guessing her wedding gown. The below are possible wedding gowns to be worn by Kate Middleton.

Still its not disclosed who is the designer for the dress of most longed spontaneous event. The media have named several candidates to make the gown. Much attention has surrounded Sarah Burton, a British designer and creative director at Alexander McQueen, who was reportedly recommended to Kate by Shulman.

Must Have’s for a stylish summer

Spring and summer are said to be the favorite season for most people because you can dress up in plenty of ways. You can go simple and light for the daytime….and then bundle up but not feel to overpowered and cluttered at night. Shopping and a change of wardrobe in the summer is always fun to do. I like looking to fill up my summer wardrobe as the choices are a lot more fun, young and colorful. They make me feel so alive and they give my day an added push and vibrance.

So, for summer, here are some of my most recommended must have’s:

1. A pair of sexy espadrilles or those “light canvas shoe with a plaited fiber sole” as defined by Wikipedia:

I like wedges more than flat espadrilles because they’re a lot sexier and cuter with skirts, shorts or pants. This pair is a Steve Madden.

Casual and fresh, this espadrille sandal has a jute-wrapped wedge heel and platform, with thickly braided fabric straps adding a chic summer style. We love the gleaming gold buckle and flattering wrap-around ankle strap. Wear with a maxi skirt or shorts for a fun summer look.

2. Hot Pink Lip Gloss. You can get the cheaper drugstore finds like Revlon’s Colorburst or you can go with the more expensive kinds like NARS or MAC’s. Either way, bright pink is so fitting for summer.

3. Colorful Printed Bags. I’m currently crushing on Cath Kidston bags. These are available in the UK or the US website. I love their prints because they’re so feminine and speaks of spring and summer effortlessly.

4. Straw Hats. You definitely need this when at the beach or by the pool side. Department store finds are better because they don’t cost a lot and you will only use them for summer.

Summer Beauty tips for mom’s

No doubt that summer days are great for relaxation and recreation. The days are longer, the sun is literally brighter, and the warm weather is ideal for just spending time with family and friends or for taking off on sightseeing or shopping jaunts. But, you would want to remember that summer is also a time when different rules of beauty care apply. The hot, lazy days can take their toll if you are not too careful about your regimen. Hot temperatures and on-the-go kids can make it tough to stay stylish in summer. That’s why you’ll love these ten fast, mom-focused beauty and hair tips, which make looking good a breeze! Go ahead, customize them to enhance your personal assets and natural beauty. Then sit back and enjoy a beautiful summer.

1. Try a slick ponytail to accentuate your facial features. A deep-side part looks fresh and modern (and is easy to do when the kids are tugging at your arm!). To prevent flyaways, spritz with hairspray. Don’t forget an easy-to-blend foundation with SPF to even out your skin tone and keep you looking polished.

2. Get a glow on by exfoliating. Keep a washcloth or buff pad at-the-ready for everyday use. If you don’t have an exfoliant, make your own by moistening ½ cup of sugar with olive or sunflower oil. Use small circles to slough away dead cells and reveal new layers of skin. Or, try a mask of four to six aspirin crushed into a paste with water. Let dry, rinse and reveal the new you!

3. Beat the heat with a French braid that keeps your hair off your neck. Make the braid, leaving your bangs free. For a fun playground-to-party look, pull out small to medium chunky pieces from the braid and spray them with gel or hairspray and scrunch. Sweep bangs to the side and slip on a thin headband or tie on a piece of ribbon.

4. Protect your skin with a sunscreen with minimum 15 SPF. If you burn using SPF 15, go higher. Look for a UVA and UVB blocking ingredient such as Zinc oxide, Titanium dioxide, Parsol 1789 or Helioplex. Apply a shot-glass worth of sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before going out, being sure to cover your chest, hands and ears. Don’t forget a lip balm with SPF, too!

5. The messy bun that ruled the fashion runways this season is perfect for on-the-go moms! To get the look, apply a shine serum to towel-dried hair. Work it through to enhance natural texture. Next, use your fingers to rake hair back at mid-height or at the nape of the neck. Twist into a knot and secure with bobby pins. Don’t worry about making it too neat – random ends sticking out are what make this style look relaxed.

6. Stay on-trend with pink lipstick. Pick a shade that complements your skin tone. Lighter pinks work on women with pink or cool undertones, and warmer pinks look best on skin with yellow undertones. A creamy lipstick formula will last longer than gloss.

7. For a mom manicure on the fly, remove chipped polish and moisturize your hands, rubbing olive oil on your cuticles before pushing them back. File your nails short and practical. Then whip on a light polish that won’t show chips as much as a dark shade.

8. Try this trendy, mom-friendly twist on a basic bun: Make two side-by-side ponytails at the back of your head. Then wrap each tail around the other’s base (hiding the elastics) to create a figure-eight bun. Secure to your head with hairpins and a few spritzes of hairspray.

9. Before you polish your toenails, pamper yourself with an Epson-salt and scented oil foot soak for 10 minutes. (Read a magazine while you wait!) Then remove dry skin from legs and feet with a homemade mixture of olive oil and kosher salt or raw sugar. Rub in an upward motion for two to three minutes, then rinse, moisturize and polish!

10. For natural-looking waves, massage volumizing mousse through freshly washed hair. Weave locks into a thick braid and allow hair to dry. When dried, gently finger comb to loosen into waves. If you have to time to blow dry, apply gel and then slowly blow dry while scrunching hair.
