High quality Japanese Akoya cultured pearls

Akoya pearls are the classic cultured pearls of Japan. They are the most lustrous of all pearls found anywhere in the world. In recent years, China has been successful in producing Akoya pearls within their own waters. However, at this time they are unable to produce as brilliant a lustre as high quality Japanese Akoya cultured pearls.

White South Sea (grown in Australia, Mynamar and Indonesia)
White South Sea cultured pearls are grown in large tropical or semi-tropical oysters in Australia, Mynamar, Indonesia and other Pacific countries. They generally range in size from 10mm to 20mm and command premium prices because of their relative rarity and large size.

South Sea Black (grown in French Polynesia)
South Sea black cultured pearls are grown in a variety of large pearl oysters found primarily in French Polynesia. Their beautiful, unique color and large size can command very high prices.

Freshwater (grown in Japan, China and the United States)
Freshwater pearls are easily cultivated from freshwater mussels rather than saltwater oysters. They are produced in great abundance, and are therefore generally the most moderately priced of all cultured pearl varieties. Their unique shapes and gentle pastel colors make them perfect gems for those on a budget.

Mabe Pearls (grown in Japan, Australia, French Polynesia, Indonesia, and the Philippines)
Mabe pearls are hemispherical cultured pearls grown against the inside shell of any oyster rather than within the oyster’s body. They are generally used in ring, earring and pendant settings which cover their flat backs or reverse side. (more…)

Shimmering twilight blue is excessively elegant and statement..

New Moon has been unleashed on global cinemas, sustaining the legacy that is Twilight.  Though we are not going to dissect Robert Pattinson’s every step, let alone wardrobe changes (we did however bestow some praise on K-Stew last week), today’s exercise in accessories takes a colour cue from the film title. That’s it. A very loose translation, but nonetheless some great (affordable!) pieces.  Shimmering twilight blue is excessively elegant and statement-making (and suddenly ripe for a red carpet or two).  Jewel tones sparkle in autumn, and this season we’re applauding Twilight-inspired sapphire blue.

This pair of sparkly prism drop earrings by Asos is delicate and would hang nicely over a strapless gown. £7

A soft tafetta wrap the colour of an evening sky is the perfect stole for a night on the town. On sale for £18.75

Dorothy Perkins’ shade-shifting marble bracelet is bold and luxurious, and at only £10 it’s a steal.  The animal print cuff dazzles and works well from day to twilight. £12

A moody blue purse from L.K. Bennett holds all your daily essentials and adds a splash of colour to your day-to-day routine.

Collar creative jewellry 2011

Autumn/winter 09 isn’t exactly the season of understatement. There is embellishment of every variety–studs, sequins and beads– as well as sharp shoulders and short skirts in bold colours. Whilst there’s no shortage of accessories this season, we love the supreme elegance of collar necklaces. These bejewelled bibs take a note from the choker craze of the mid nineties and add exquisite baubles and shiny metallics for a splash of luxury. A sparkly collar is all you need to make a statement during the holiday party circuit. Above our some of our very favourite jewelled neck decorations. (more…)

Jewellry collection for ball or formal dress occasion!

Christmas is usually a somewhat quieter time for many wedding suppliers, and whilst this may leave some twiddling their thumbs, I intend to keep myself busy dreaming up a whole load of new designs for 2011. I haven’t been able to do much designing lately as my husband and I just relocated to Macau and we’re still adjusting to a very different culture. My Etsy shop has been closed over the move period, but it should re-open very soon and I have big plans for all the special one-of-a-kind Wow Tiaras pieces I can create with my newly found oriental goodies! Danielle Scutt F/W 2011 Jewelry Collection

The new AW11 collection of jewelery designed by Danielle Scutt was shown during London Fashion Week few weeks ago. The surrealistic and luxury designs with the 80s flair and good sense of  humor features red lipsticks, teapots, enamel hands and even platinum blond hair. The young British designer was inspired by powerful muses, like Frida Khalo or Peggy Guggenheim.

I love the combination of tribal vibe and cute miniatures of women’s everyday objects. ”In times of economic crisis, the two “luxury” items which flourish in the women’s sector are lipstick and jewelry” explains Scutt. “With that in minds the collection plays with themes of luxury, feminism and surrealism.
The range was designed  in collaboration with Freedom at Topshop and goes on sale on 1st of April.

2011 Jewellery Design Collection

Australian Jewellery designer Elke Kramer has just launched her new Spring 2011 collection, The Shake of Ophelia, and it’s quite something.

Historically, the story behind Ophelia is a tragic one, and just as Shakespeare’s Ophelia, a girl full of sorrow due to Hamlet rejecting her, Elke Kramer’s Ophelia is a 19th century English rose who flees her homeland to embark on a mystical journey with a travelling spice merchant.

The Shake of Ophelia tells a story of a beautiful girl who was born into wealth and luxury. Ophelia decides to flee to The Orient of Africa and the Far East to accompany a travelling spice merchant. It’s her worldly experiences that make her world abundant with colour and fascinating details, much like Elke Kramer’s new accessories collection, which was inspired by the story of Ophelia.

Elke Kramer’s Shake of Ophelia is a fascinating collection of resin-made gems and supple leather goods that “evokes this tale to honour the shamanic, the mythical and the ceremonial”. The collection is truly bountiful and it brings us oriental, ornamental style accessories and is accompanied with a small range of leather bags and purses.
