Women’s Trenchcoats

The women’s trenchcoat is back in vogue. Could it be the 24/7 news media influencing fashion? Or maybe it’s the crime and court TV dramas causing the trench coats for women trend. Whatever the reason for popularity of women’s trenchcoats, this dapper garment offers lots of versatility and fashionability making it a worthy addition to your wardrobe.

Today’s women’s trench coat is offered in a variety of colors of beige hues, cream, and darker browns and black. The fabric used in the trench coats for women will typically consist of a stiff canvas-like outer weave with a fashionable sheen. The materials is water repellent and able to offer protection from wind gusts and fall and winter precipitation. Flanel lining is an attractive feature of a quality womens trenchcoat. Large functional buttons, “dummy” buttons, snaps as well as a belt is a common feature to the women’s trenchcoat.

Women’s trench coats can be worn in a variety of fashion configurations. These include pairing with jeans, lightweight cargo pants, boots, short or long sleeve cotton shirts or sweaters. From the male perspective, high heels are a super sexy pairing with the womans trenchcoat. Petit women are advised to select trenchoats for women that do not fall below the knee as this will make you appear shorter than necessary. A classy and well designed scarf and gloves of colors that compliment the neutral colored trenchcoat and you are all set.

New York City is the fashion capital

Just walking around New York city, all I can see are the outfits.  In a city with over 15 Million people, with most parading around on foot, people tend to express themselves not in the cars they drive, but in the clothes and shoes they wear.  And that’s why for me, New York is the world’s biggest fashion show.

Just yesterday I went into NineWest on 5th avenue, and it was a buying frenzy as the store offered discounts of as much as 35% off bags and shoes.  And if you don’t find your size but just have to have a particular style, NineWest is happy to ship you out what you need free of charge.  I bore the unfortunate task of assisting my girlfriend carry a multicolored sequins bag stuffed with a heavy laptop, but it was all worth it when a store clerk complimented me on what she thought was a nuveau chique male accessory.

We left NineWest bags in hand, and taking in the attire of everyday New Yorkers as we headed downtown along 5th avenue.  You could see beautiful young maidens clad in simple, yet elegant spring/summer dresses.  Some of them actually need help as we observed more than one flawlessly skinned scantily summer dressed beauty with shoes that don’t quite match the dress.  Men are still suckers for business suits, although some are beginning to radicalize traditional business attire with more Euro variations.

Looking down at the grimy city streets is a feast for the eyes for those with a foot fetish.  The latest open toe shoes some with the most wonderfully pedicured toes known to man are everywhere you look.  And there’s an abundance of comfy and trendy urban kicks of every conceivable color scheme and design you can imagine adorning hipster men’s feet.

So if you want to check out fashion, you have to check out New York.

Royal wedding fashion legacy

Royal bridal gowns have been distinguished throughout the history of royalty since 1816. The bridal gown plays a foremost role, not only during the wedding day but also for days, months and years to come.

Here we represent some royal bridal gown from last two centuries.

Consuelo Vanderbilt and the Duke of Marlborough, as shown in the November 1895 issue of Harper’s.

Sibyl Cadogan in her 1917 bridal gown.

Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon and the Duke of York, 1923.

Marjorie du Cros on her wedding day, 1932

While the Queen Mother married King George VI in 1923 in a simple wedding dress designed by court dressmaker Madame Handley Seymour, a mere 58 years later Diana Princess of Wales made headlines when she married Prince Charles in a wedding gown by a then relatively unknown designer Elizabeth Emanuel. The dress featured an extravagant 25-foot-long train.

It would only be 24 years later when Prince Charles’ second bride, Camilla Parker Bowles (now the Duchess of Cornwall), chose an elegant two-piece designed by Antonia Robinson and Anne Valentine, with statement headwear created by Philip Treacy.

Finally it comes to Kate Middleton’s gown, 2011.

Kate’s Wedding Dress: Combines British with an international appeal

The royal wedding unveil its last screen at the moment we got the first through-the-car-window look at Kate’s slim lace sleeve, 1950s neckline, veil edged with scalloped chantilly and – to whoops of joy on the fashion desk – a glimpse of Sarah Burton herself helping the train into the car.

None ever doubted that Kate would go British, but her decision to work with the relatively unknown designer Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen was a stroke of genius. There was, quite simply, no one better talented or more qualified for the job. Its delicate lace sleeves, stunning satin bodice and cleverly pleated skirt combine traditional fabrics with a contemporary silhouette, clearly inspired by the gown Hollywood beauty Grace Kelly wore when she married Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956.

The dress symbolized what worked about this wedding. It was grand but romantic, traditional but unexpected. It dispatched all memories of Diana’s schlocky, overblown dress by zeroing in on a far more elegant, sophisticated version of the princess ideal in Grace Kelly. It combined notes of British with an international appeal.

The primary reference is Kelly’s marriage, but the shape also recalls the dress worn by Princess Margaret at her wedding four years later; the lace sleeves nod to the dresses of the Italian Catholic tradition, but the design of the lace itself – handmade at Hampton Court – features roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrock.

Crucially, the choice of Sarah Burton and the Alexander McQueen label is a hugely encouraging sign that Kate has a modern understanding of what it is that makes Britain great in the 21st century. Encouraging because – whether you like it or not – Kate and William will play as key a part of the image of Britain abroad in the next decade as the Harry Potter franchise has in the last.

Women Fashion Trends Winter 2011….

Many women like to dress on the catwalk and look stylish. What have the fancy stuff in the locker room and did not spend a fortune?

When you are ready to begin looking for your short prom dress, it’s a good idea to take your measurements. Get your measurements prior to going out shopping and have them on hand. You should measure your waistline, hips, and the bust. Not all size charts are precisely the same with every designer, so instead of going by size, at times going by your measurements may help you get a dress that’s the correct size for you.Recognize your body type when you are purchasing your short dress for homecoming or prom as well. Maybe you have a straight figure, an hourglass figure, or possibly a pear shaped figure.Recognize your body type when you are purchasing your short dress for homecoming or prom as well.
